No dia 1 de Janeiro do próximo ano, o yuan chinês tornar-se-á moeda oficial no Zimbabué, na sequência de discussões mantidas entre os dois governos durante uma visita de Estado do presidente chinês.
Isto fará com que a moeda chinesa seja igual no Zimbabué ao dólar americano, ao rand sul-africano e ao pula do Botswana, sem que o euro desempenhe qualquer papel nesta equação, talvez um lembrete contundente da negatividade que a União Europeia tem demonstrado contra o Zimbabué.
A China tornou-se o maior parceiro comercial do Zimbabué e os investimentos estão a expandir-se, na sequência da visita do Presidente Xi JinPing ao país há algum tempo.
